Volunteers for the Yukon African Music Festival 2026

Role Overview

Join us for an exciting opportunity to be part of the 13th Annual Yukon African Music Festival! We are seeking enthusiastic volunteers for February 6th and 7th, 2026, at the Mount McIntyre Recreation Centre in Whitehorse, from 5 PM to 11 PM. Your involvement will help make this event unforgettable!

TELIYA International Society welcomes your energy and passion! We are looking for volunteers in the following areas for the Yukon African Music Festival 2026:
General helpers
Front Desk
Photographers
Safety and Security persons
Bartenders
Assistant MC
Light and Sound Technician /a DJ
Booth Services /Tickets at the door

Responsibilities

Front Desk: Greet guests, manage check-ins, answer questions, and provide directions.
General Helpers: Assist with logistics, setup, crafts, and venue cleanliness.
Photographers: Capture high-quality images of performances, crowds, and the festival atmosphere.
Safety and Security: Monitor entry points, assist with crowd control, and report safety hazards.
Bartender: Preparing and serving drinks
Assistant MC: Collaborate with the main MC, assist with artist introductions, and engage the audience.
Light and Sound Technicians: Assist with equipment setup, operation, and troubleshooting under supervision.
Tickets at the Door: Handle cash, distribute tickets, and balance the cash box.
Booth Services: Help set up and manage the children’s craft area.

Experience and Skills

Prior experience is not required. A brief orientation session will be conducted shortly before the festival to prepare volunteers for their assigned roles.

Estimated Time Commitment

Volunteers are needed for 6 hours per day (5:00 PM – 11:00 PM) on both festival days.
