Community member for the Yukon University Animal Care Committee (ACC) – Volunteer Position

Task Description
Yukon University has an Animal Care Committee (ACC) to review all research or teaching activities involving animals. The ACC is responsible for ensuring the ethical use of animals in compliance with the guidelines and policies of the Canadian Council on Animal Care. The community representative for the ACC is a member who represents community interests, opinions, and concerns regarding animal-based research and teaching activities of Yukon University. This is a 2-year term position with the possibility for renewal. Community members must not be affiliated with the University.

• computer skills – Microsoft Office
• Ability to work collaboratively with committee members
• good communication skills
• not affiliated with Yukon University
Responsibilities
• Review and assess research and teaching projects involving animals from ethical perspectives as outlined by the Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC).
• work with ACC members to ensure good animal care and use at YukonU
• provide an external, community perspective on the ACC
Time Commitment
• 1-2 hours per month
• must attend 4 regularly scheduled meetings and 1 or 2 interim review meetings
