Task description

Thay K'i Anint'i (TKA) (fly like an eagle) is a not-for-profit cultural organization specializing in providing recovery support to Yukoners who return home from treatment or choose to abstain from substance use. Currently, the Yukon has minimal recovery programs, a situation that demands immediate attention. The lack of programming, especially in the communities, increases the risk of relapse and presents a significant gap in services and support.
We are excited to share a unique event that TKA is organizing, a Relay for Hope and On the Land Healing Retreat, from August 30th, 2024, to September 1st, 2024. This event will occur during International Overdose Awareness Day, August 31st, 2024. The focus is on raising awareness of the climbing number of overdose rates, substance misuse in the Yukon and providing healing resources for individuals grieving lost loved ones through a healthy and sober fitness event and healing retreat. This event is not just a gathering, but a significant step towards a healthier and more supportive community. It's a one-of-a-kind opportunity for our community to show support to those in recovery or who have lost loved ones to substance use.
We are looking for volunteers for our relay checkpoints supporting runners and walkers as they start and finish legs on the race. We are also looking for support to help at the three-day healing retreat. Youth positions are available.
