The Northern Community Land Trust Society (NCLTS) is a Yukon non-profit developing and stewarding permanently affordable home ownership. We have just welcomed the first residents into Project 1096 in Whitehorse and are beginning work on a second project in Haines Junction. We are seeking community-minded directors to join our volunteer board as we shift toward a more strategic role in support of the organization’s long-term sustainability. We especially welcome members from outside Whitehorse, and those with expertise in finance, affordable housing, or construction.
Directors contribute to the governance and strategic direction of the organization, support the Executive Director and President, and help guide NCLTS as it grows its portfolio of affordable housing. Directors are expected to attend board meetings, participate in a committee, and bring sound judgment and a collaborative approach.
A genuine commitment to affordable housing and the community land trust model matters most. We are looking for people who are collaborative and value-aligned. Lived experience, northern or rural community knowledge, and a range of professional backgrounds are all welcome. No prior board experience is required, and prospective members are welcome to observe or join a committee before formally joining.
Approximately 4 to 6 hours per month, including monthly board meetings and committee involvement.
