Board of Directors – Member (incl. leadership roles)

Role Overview

As a not-for-profit, Queer Yukon Society replies on a group of volunteers to serve on its Board of Directors to provide governance and oversight to the organization with five to ten staff.
Queer Yukon Society works to make the Yukon as inclusive a place as possible for 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals by providing inclusive and affirming programming and services for members of the community and their allies.

Responsibilities

– attend regular (monthly) board meetings,
– contribute your expertise and experience to governance areas of interest to you,
– contribute to Queer Yukon Society’s programming and operations (in a limited capacity and only when willing, able, and appropriate).

Experience and Qualifications

– lived experience as a member of the 2SLGBTQIA+ (preferably in the Yukon or other remote/Northern communities),
– experience working with/for other not-for-profits (preferably in the Yukon or other remote/Northern communities),
– understanding of the responsibilities of being a Director of a not-for-profit (preferably in the Yukon),
– other experience and expertise as is relevant to your area of involvement in the organization’s governance (i.e. labour relations or reconciliation).

Estimated Time Commitment

– attending regular (monthly) board meetings – about 3 hours/month
– contributing to board work beyond meetings – about 3 hours/month (flexible)
