Volunteer opportunity conditions:

Location: In-person at our office.

Specific requirements: In British Columbia locations, we recommend volunteers to be capable of lifting 30lbs to perform the work in a safely manner and a vulnerable sector check is also necessary.

The Administrative team is looking for volunteers to be part of their mission.

Skills needed

Proficiency with technology (Microsoft Office, printers, online platforms/support portals, etc.).
Thrive at providing optimum customer service, comfortable interacting with the public.
Experience or interest working in an administrative environment.
Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
Attention to accuracy and detail.
Experience working with diverse populations and an understanding of cultural issues is an asset.
Fluency in written and spoken English is required, fluency in other languages is an asset.

Responsibilities

Oversee and ensure smooth operation of the reception area at the office, including acting as first point of contact with the public.
Reply to general enquiries, information requests and voicemails, and direct incoming calls.
Provide access to the building, handle and relay couriers/deliveries, electronic and physical filing, and receive and process donations.
Assist personnel with booking shared equipment, spaces, and vehicles.
Support new personnel with onboarding and building orientations.
Support Supervisors/Managers with the general operation of administrative functions and special projects as needed.
Provide information and referrals on Canadian Red Cross services, programs, and volunteer opportunities.

Durations

Time commitment

One 4-hour shift per week Monday through Friday for a minimum of 6 months. Schedule and time commitment is set during regular business hours, Monday through Friday.
