Join the Skookum Jim Friendship Centre Board! SJFC is looking for passionate individuals to join our volunteer Board of Directors! We need to fill one Board Director and one Youth Representative to help guide our organization.
All board members need to be able to read and write in English and be comfortable sending emails. Also, we ask that everyone keeps things professional and tidy during meetings.
Responsibilities of Board Members and Representatives
All Board Members and Youth Representatives play a crucial role in the Skookum Jim Friendship Centre’s success. Your commitment would involve:
Active Meeting Participation: Prepare for, attend, and actively participate in quarterly board meetings, typically held in the evenings at 5 PM. These meetings are hybrid, offering both online and in-person attendance options.
General Meetings: Attend the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and any special general meetings.
Event Support: Provide support for special events when your availability allows.
Assigned Tasks: Take on specific tasks as directed by the Board President.
Board members should be available for quarterly meetings, with each meeting lasting at least two hours. This commitment totals approximately 8 hours per year excluding the time for an AGM and any special general meetings which may be longer than 2 hours in a day.
Become a Board of Director as vacancies become available. We need dedicated, community-minded people to keep SJFC going and motivated! Directors also have the opportunity to represent SJFC and YT on a national level during the National Association of Friendship Centre meetings held at various times of the year at various Canadian cities. Become a Board Director to get the details *wink wink*
Attend and Vote at the Annual General Meetings where we review overall progress, challenges and financials.
Receive SJFC Newsletters seasonal updates on our current programs and what is to come! Share with your family, friends, and colleagues.
Your presence, valuable insights, and vote play a significant role in shaping the decisions and initiatives undertaken by SJFC to aid the Yukon Territory. Were you aware that we are the sole Friendship Centre in the entire Yukon Territory?! Your contribution can raise awareness about the support, services, and programs offered by SJFC for the benefit of all Yukoners.
