GLOCAL’s new and innovative ONLINE VOLUNTEERING program enables Canadians to engage in remote volunteering with 1500+ peers nationwide, at their own pace.

Skills needed

Good oral and written communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
A passion for creative writing, community engagement and partnerships development.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
Strong intercultural understanding.
Ability to meet deadlines and thrive in a fast-paced, flexible environment.
Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
Professionalism, punctuality, and reliability.

Responsibilities

Scope of the responsibilities:
Work closely with the GLOCAL Research Manager and supervisors to gather information and write reports on Canadian issues.
Conduct research and understand the political environment of the country. This includes but is not limited to research on local issues, provincial policy concerns, and regional politics.
Provide support in GLOCAL's social media engagement, create infographics, and produce short videos on social causes.
Assist in community engagement and outreach at the local level.
Gather, analyze, and present data findings through creating visualizations.

5 hours per MONTH
5 hours per WEEK
Please note that the '5 hours' specified in each program are meant to be a rough idea of volunteers' time commitment. It is not binding, nor restricted. Every volunteer can work more hours or fewer hours than 5 hours according to their availability. Actual volunteer hours will be recognized accordingly.

Incentive for the volunteer

More excitingly, funded in part by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC), GLOCAL officially launches CANConnect Diversity Micro-grants for Canadian Youth:
The micro-grants provide Canadian youth with the opportunities to design and produce research, short videos, interviews, or digital projects that promote civic engagement in Canada. For the year 2024-2025, we will be administering 160 grants to support 100 individual or group projects. (up to $5,000 grants) Check this link for more details and the application form.
