Program and Outing Volunteer

Role Overview

Thomson Centre is seeking Volunteers to assist with our Recreational Programming and Community Outings. All activities are planned and facilitated by our Therapeutic Services team, and volunteers provide a wonderful addition allowing more residents to join and more 1:1 interaction.

Responsibilities

As a Programming Volunteer, you would assist staff with set up, help bring residents to/from programs, assist with program facilitation (as directed), and help with clean up. Outing Volunteers would help bring residents to/from our bus stop and engage with them while waiting for staff to load the facility bus. You would engage in light conversation, help with pushing wheelchairs, and follow direction from staff.

Experience and Skills

We are seeking individuals who are mature, responsible, and are able to connect with residents living in a care facility.
Vulnerable Sector Screening and TB Screening, as well as references are required.

Estimated Time Commitment

1-2 hrs/week depending on availability and program schedule. Long term applicants preferred.

Volunteer Recognition or Benefits

Continuing Care Volunteers are offered regular support, mentorship and training opportunities. Volunteer Appreciation Events are held throughout the year and references are available to those who have committed at least 6 months service.
