Volunteer Opportunities

Yukon NGO Hub Society Board Member

Task Description

If you are interested in contributing to a non-profit organization (NPO) that is working to support all Yukon NPOs, we’d like to hear from you.
The HUB is in the final stages of providing a virtual HUB that will offer online training sessions, networking opportunities, professional advice, and an array of resources to the entire Yukon NPO sector. Plans also include occupying a physical space, where we can offer further in -person training, support and workspaces to the sector’s staff and volunteers across the Yukon.

The NGO HUB Society is looking for volunteer Board members. This would allow volunteers a chance to guide the development of an array of services and programs to support all Yukon NGOs. We’re a relatively new organization so if you are a leader in policy development, HR or governance – we need you too!

Minimum Age

19

Skills Needed

If you have strong interpersonal, problem-solving and/or communications skills with an interest in Yukon’s non-profit sector, you would be a great fit. Some knowledge about non-profit organizations such as governance, policy development, financial proficiency, strategic planning, or marketing skills, would be an asset but not necessary.
Ideally, we are looking for Yukoners with an interest in non-profit organizations, and possibly with experience sitting on a board or working for a non-profit board.
If you are a Yukoner who has an interest in supporting a non-profit society focused on supporting all Yukon non-profit agencies, please contact us.

Responsabilities

New board members will join our current President, Treasurer and Secretary. Responsibilities include attending regular monthly board meetings; reviewing monthly financial statements; and if you like, participating in developing a governance model to guide the HUB as we grow.

Time Commitment

We ask for two-to-four hours maximum of your time a month for regular board meetings.

Incentive for the Volunteer

Volunteering can help us to meet new people, connect with our community, learn new skills, and even potentially advance your career, and support a good cause. It can also help us to reduce stress, keep mentally stimulated, and provide a sense of purpose.
