The Volunteer Computer Skills Tutor supports adult learners in building confidence and practical skills using computers and digital tools. This role involves providing one-to-one or small-group support in areas such as basic computer use, email, internet navigation, online forms, and workplace-related technology. Tutors work at the learner’s pace, offer encouragement, and help create a positive, respectful learning environment. No formal teaching experience is required—patience, clear communication, and a willingness to help adults learn are essential.
– Provide one-to-one or small-group tutoring to adult learners with varying levels of computer experience
– Support learners in developing basic digital skills, such as using a computer, email, internet searches, and common software
– Help learners complete practical tasks, including online forms, job applications, and basic workplace technology tasks
– Create a supportive, patient, and respectful learning environment that builds learner confidence
– Basic to intermediate computer skills (e.g., email, internet use, word processing, online forms)
– Comfort using common digital tools and devices (desktop/laptop computers, tablets, smartphones)
– Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain concepts clearly and simply
– Patience, empathy, and a supportive approach to working with adult learners
This role requires a weekly commitment on Fridays between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Volunteers are asked to commit to attending regularly to provide consistent support for learners
