Role Overview

The Fireweed Community Market Society (FCMS) is seeking passionate and committed community members to join our Board of Directors. As a volunteer Board member, you will help guide the long-term sustainability and continued success of the Fireweed markets. Board members work together to support the markets, make thoughtful decisions, and help shape their future as an important part of our community.

Responsibilities

Help guide the long-term direction and sustainability of the markets
Contribute to planning and decision-making for the Society
Support responsible financial management and good governance
Help identify opportunities to strengthen the organization and the existing markets
Act as an ambassador for FCMS within the community
Participate in Board meetings
Work collaboratively with other Board members, staff, volunteers, vendors, and community partners

Experience and Qualifications

We are looking for community-minded individuals who are passionate about the Fireweed markets and want to help ensure their continued success.

We welcome people with experience or interest in:
Community development and engagement
Local food, farmers markets, or small businesses
Finance, accounting, or fundraising
Governance or nonprofit organizations
Marketing, communications, or events
Strategic planning and organizational development

You do not need to have previous Board experience. We value diverse perspectives, community knowledge, and a willingness to contribute.

A passion for community and supporting local vendors
Willingness to work collaboratively and make decisions as a team
Reliability, accountability, and good judgement
An interest in helping shape the future of the organization and our existing markets

Estimated Time Commitment

Min ~5 hours per month (board meeting readings and monthly meetings), as well as any other projects you are willing and able to take on.

Min 1-year term.
