Equipment Manager

Role Overview

The Equipment Manager plays a key role in the race as he/she is responsible for organizing, restocking, dispensing and monitoring all required equipment for Whitehorse, Carmacks and Dawson. This person needs to be well organized and a good communicator as many coordinators depend upon the Equipment Manager for their supplies.

Responsibilities

-Make a plan with the coordinators about what equipment is needed on what days. Arrange most efficient means of getting equipment where it needs to be with coordinators and other parties involved.
-Transport supplies around Whitehorse, for pre-race events as needed. Carmacks and Dawson to designated locations as needed
-Prepare for Race Day: direct loading of all equipment bound for Start Line, Carmacks, Tatchun Creek, Dawson and any other locations as needed
-Pick up merchandise
During the Race:
-Early Wednesday morning: take equipment requested to the Start Line and assist with unloading/set up where necessary.
-Wednesday after race has started: drive to Carmacks and unload requested gear
-Thursday morning – deliver equipment to Tatchun Creek, if needed then return to Carmacks
-Friday morning – load Carmacks checkpoint equipment and merch – drive to Dawson City – unload necessary equipment
-Sunday – provide equipment where necessary and return to Whitehorse
Post Race:
-Unload gear to dry, inspect, repair, replace, inventory, dispose of and store (with the assistance of other volunteers)
– return vehicle

Experience and Skills

-Class 5 driver’s license with a clean driving record
-Able to lift heavy equipment
-Excellent organization skills
-Punctual and reliable

Estimated Time Commitment

Pre Race: Race Operations Meetings May 12, 26, and June 9, 1.5 hours each
Storage Orientation 1 hour
Race Week June 15-21, 2026 Events in Whitehorse, driving to Carmacks then driving to Dawson City and return, 30 hours
Return from Dawson, return items, clean, repair store equipment 15 hours.
