Fostering volunteerism and civic engagement in Yukon.

Home Care, Yukon Health and Social Services

Nav-CARE Volunteer (Home Visits with Seniors)

Role Overview

Do you enjoy helping others?
As a Nav-CARE Volunteer, you will visit with people in our community who are living with a serious illness. Your goal is to offer friendship and simple practical help.
You will help them stay independent, feel less alone, and find the services they need. You don’t need to be an expert—you just need to care.
It is a great way to meet new people, learn new skills, and make a real difference.
Before you start, we provide free training to make sure you feel ready and confident. Because you will be working with seniors and families, we do require a background check (RCMP check) and references.

• Look Ahead: Help them plan for the future so they feel less stressed.

Experience and Skills

• Kindness: You enjoy building friendships and helping people through hard times.
• Good Listener: You are patient and compassionate.
• Helpful: You are good at looking for information or asking questions to find a solution.
• Life Experience: Have you cared for an older family member or friend before? Have you helped someone through a difficult time? Do you have experience working or volunteering with others in a helping capacity? Your life and work experience will complement the training we provide.
