Thank you for your interest in joining the Yukon NGO HUB Society’s board of directors. For the past two years, the NGO HUB has been developing a centralized resource centre offering training tools and resources, live and virtual events and research and networking opportunities on a consistent and basis to support all Yukon non-profits.
As a board member you will be working with like-minded community members focused on developing locally made, culturally relevant training modules, events and opportunities to build a robust shared resources model for the Yukon’s non-profit sector. The first of its kind!
The HUB is looking for board members with diverse skills and experience, from various cultural backgrounds with a passion for Yukon’s non-profit sector. We welcome people from our rural communities as we are dedicated to supporting organizations across the Yukon. The general membership will elect board members at our AGM on Sept. 17th from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at Yukonstruct.
Specific skills and experience that would be helpful, but are not necessary, include:
● Knowledge of accounting or financial management
● Human resources experience
● Advocacy skills
● Fundraising experience
● Experience working with First Nations
● Team building skills
Responsibilities
– Attend monthly meetings, currently held the third Wednesday of the month
– Approximately 5 – 6 hours per month with reading and correspondence
– Provide input on board initiatives
– Bring your ideas and enthusiasm!
The board meets monthly, from 1.5 to 2 hours maximum, plus up to 3 hours reading/emailing between meetings with support from our ED.
We look forward to establishing internal committess such as communications, training, governance, and finance that board members could join that would require 2 hours per month.
Board and governance training resources are available, plus board members will be able to attend any of the training or mentorship opportunities offered by the HUB’s team.
